There are two most used hair transplantation methods nowadays which are FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant) and FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). The FUE called Follicular Unit Extraction has developed from the FUT method.
Main principles of FUE method
During the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method individual grafts are collected by special needle from the occipital hair wreath which is shaved before this procedure. Follicular units are approximately 1mm in size and these grafts are transplanted straight onto desired area.
This method is very demanding with large losses. During the process of collecting the individual grafts there is a chance that the roots (follicules) may be simply damaged because there is no accurate way how to determine in what direction they grow. Damages are very common and whole follicular unit is devalued by this damage.
This method alllows only up to 700 grafts to be transplanted within one transplantation.
Advantages of FUE hair transplantation method
- There will be no tight scar left in the occipital area
- Individual hair can be collected and planted
- It is suitable for minor transplantations
- It is suitable for hair transplantation
Disadvantages of FUE hair transplantation method
- Area from where the hair will be collected from has to be shaved before the transplantation
- Scars of 1mm size will be left after the transplantation and their amount will be based on the quantity of follicular units collected.
- In the area of collection there is three times more scary tissue left compared to FUT method
- Amount of 700 hair grafts is maximum within one transplantation
- Higher probability of damaging the hair bulb during the process of collection
- More time and effort demanding
- Higher costs
Nowadayas we can not agree with so called “hair experts” who claim that FUE method is the only right hair transplantation method. FUE method is more expensive which is why there is so massive internet promotion of this method not only in our country but all over the world.
